Work Force Recruitment & Career Opportunities

MCES’s primary goal when recruiting new employees is to fill vacancies with persons who have the best available skills, abilities or experience needed to perform the work. Decisions regarding the recruitment, selection and placement of employees are made on the basis of job-related criteria.

When positions become available, qualified current employees are encouraged and are welcome to apply. As openings occur, notices relating general information about the position are announced. The manager of the department with the opening will arrange interviews with employees who apply. We encourage current employees to recruit new talent for MCES.

Employment Classifications

The following terms are used to describe employment classifications and status:

  • Probationary Employee — Hired on a trial basis for a period of 60 calendar days to assess ability to perform assigned tasks. Such employment may be terminated at any time, with or without cause, during or after the 60-day period if deemed appropriate by the employee or the Company. The period may be extended by the Company at its sole discretion.
  • Full-Time Employee — Regularly scheduled to work at least 40 hours per week and not hired on a temporary basis.
  • Temporary Employee — Hired for an interim period, usually to cover vacations, leaves of absence, or projects of limited duration. Not eligible for Company-paid benefits except as required by law.
  • Seasonal Employee — Hired into a position for which customary annual employment is 6 months or less. Generally not eligible for benefits. If status changes to part-time or full-time, the hire date becomes the date of that change for benefit eligibility requiring a minimum term of employment.

FLAG-4: Construction Policy

This supplement assists construction companies and related firms in preparing a Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Manual for their medium to mega construction businesses.

The Construction Act defines construction contracts. All design and construction contracts, including professional appointments, are likely to be construction contracts as long as they relate to “construction operations”.

Construction law involves any legal issue related to the construction of a building or other structure. Common construction-related legal disputes include workplace injuries and accidents, construction defects, contract issues, and problems with obtaining the proper planning or building permits.

Key elements of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

  • Work Selection
  • Project Planning
  • Development Orders
  • Cost Control
  • Equipment Control
  • Construction Estimating
  • Progress Billing
  • Construction Purchasing
  • Construction Quality Control
  • Construction Safety Controls
  • Construction Scheduling
